Summary eBay is seeking a Linux DevOps Engineer to join its infrastructure team for WHI Solutions, an eBay company specializing in automotive e-commerce and cataloging products. The role is crucial for building, securing, and maintaining highly available systems for Nexpart and other WHI Solutions platforms. The engineer will collaborate with DevOps, engineering, and security teams to enhance reliability, scalability, and performance. Responsibilities include designing, deploying, and managing Linux environments (RHEL/Rocky Linux), automating infrastructure using Python, Bash, Perl, and Ansible, administering and tuning web servers (Apache HTTP Server, Jetty, Tomcat), implementing vulnerability scanning with Tenable, and collaborating with development teams on deployments and incident resolution. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Computer Science or a related field with 5+ years of Linux administration experience, strong scripting skills, advanced Ansible knowledge, experience with specified web servers, vulnerability management tools, and HA architectures. Must Have

  • Apache, Jetty, Tomcat knowledge
  • Tenable or similar vulnerability tools
  • HA architectures and load balancing

  • CI/CD workflows and DevOps practices
  • Experience supporting PHP applications
  • Cloud platform familiarity (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Docker and/or Kubernetes experience
  • MySQL and PostgreSQL support
  • CheckMK or Nagios familiarity
  • ELK stack familiarity

We’re redefining the way parts are bought and sold online. Role Overview We’re seeking a Linux DevOps Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role is key to building, securing, and maintaining highly available systems for Nexpart and other WHI Solutions platforms. You’ll collaborate across DevOps, engineering, and security teams to drive reliability, scalability, and performance. Job Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available Linux environments (RHEL / Rocky Linux).
  • Automate infrastructure with Python, Bash, Perl, and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
  • Administer and tune Apache HTTP Server, Jetty, and Tomcat in production.
  • Implement vulnerability scanning and remediation using Tenable.
  • Collaborate with development teams on deployments, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
  • Architect and maintain high availability solutions and load balancing setups.
  • Architecting/Designing and deploying open-source platforms, frameworks, and applications

Required Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience (preferably RHEL or Rocky Linux).
  • Strong scripting experience with Python, Bash, and Perl.
  • Advanced Ansible skills for configuration management and automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Apache, Jetty, and Tomcat.
  • Experience with Tenable or similar vulnerability management tools.
  • Solid grasp of HA architectures and load balancing strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD workflows and DevOps standard practices
  • Background supporting PHP applications in production.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Support MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, focusing on high performance and replication.
  • Familiarity with CheckMK or Nagios to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Familiarity with ELK stack (Elastic, Kibana, Logstash)

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: $83,200 - $146,900 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
