Job Description

Director, Business Strategy & Transformation This position is based in our Domestic Supply Chain Hub in North Chicago, IL (3 days onsite/2 days remote, 100% remote option is not available), relocation assistance is available for this role for candidates outside of Illinois. 25% travel (domestic & global) The Director of Strategy & Transformation works with the AbbVie Supply Chain organization, responsible for spearheading cross-functional transformational efforts to drive the integration of innovative strategies in distribution, logistics, and digital analytics. This role is essential in implementing end-to-end transformations that align with AbbVie's strategic priorities to optimize the global distribution network, enhance logistics efficiency, and act as a strategic partner to pilot these efforts to enhance logistics efficiency and streamline supply chain. Achieving these goals requires a combination of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, broad strategic thinking, and an ability to synthesize inputs into actionable strategies that drive alignment, service level improvement, cost efficiencies, and sustained growth. Responsibilities: + Develop and evolve integrated distribution and inventory strategies aligned with enterprise goals and regional priorities. Lead the advancement of AbbVie’s global transportation and delivery strategy aligned with supply chain transformation goals. + Define and govern service level optimization through data-driven inventory policies and evaluate logistics capabilities. Collaborate cross-functionally to align logistics device strategies with regulatory and operational requirements. + Establish and maintain strategic relationships with logistics and supply providers, ensuring innovative models that support scalable, resilient distribution. + Lead initiatives enhancing warehousing and storage capabilities using automation, capacity expansion, and network redesign. + Drive adoption of AI/ML tools embedded in supply chain decision-making and oversee design and implementation of enterprise data products. + Support development of high-profile transformations within the organization ranging from novel operating models to new capabilities and ways of working to bring innovation across AbbVie’s Supply Chain. Translate strategic vision into action by effectively managing implementation of these end-to-end transformations within a complex matrixed organization. + Collaborate closely with functional teams in piloting new initiatives. Manage cross-functional senior stakeholders to ensure alignment on transformation goals. + Prepare updates to VP-level and executive stakeholders on insights developed and status of transformation efforts. Provide strategic insights, synthesize internal/external stakeholder inputs, and develop frameworks for executive decision making. + Define and deliver strategies to grow core capabilities across the global supply chain organization. Establish impact measurement frameworks and continually monitor trends to drive innovative strategy realization. + Orchestrate full lifecycle of strategic planning processes including budgeting and execution readiness. #LI-AL1 Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree required, Advanced degree highly preferred. + At least 12 years of related experience across multiple competitive, fast paced environments (i.e., pharmaceutical/life sciences, supply chain, commercial operations and/or strategy consulting.). + Experience managing large projects within a complex matrixed organization either as an external consultant or an internal cross-functional lead. + Demonstrated ability to present data and metrics to executive leadership teams that will lead to better business outcomes. + Recognized team player with proven facilitative leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment. Proven performance in a matrixed environment with ability to influence and align stakeholders. + Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact externally and internally to support business strategy. + Strong analytical skills. Recognized ability to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives to ensure that balanced risk assessments are made. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
