Summary The Batavia VA Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified Nursing Assistant to serve as a member of the Restorative Care Team in Batavia, New York. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Duties Help VA Nursing Assistants (NA) perform care as delegated by a Registered Nurse (RN). Nursing Assistants will assist medical personnel in the care and treatment of patients, including direct patient care. They perform a wide variety of duties aimed at increasing the comfort and mental health of the patient. They perform patient care and take measures to address the patient's bio-psychosocial needs, personal hygiene, physical comfort, nutrition, hydration, and safety. They will encourage patients with self-care and promote independence, while reporting to the Registered Nurse. The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care to adults of all ages requiring technical skills and knowledge for those requiring supportive/rehabilitative care and participates in restorative/rehabilitative plan of care.
- Communicate any adverse outcomes to nursing staff, nurse manager, and medical provider.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of the VA and Nursing Service to comply with the evidence-based strategies and recognized standards preferred.
- Adapt basic nursing measures to meet physical, social, emotional, and rehabilitative needs of the resident.
- Innovative approach to work-planning organization and care delivery.
- Collaborates with RN Case Manager, Management and the Interdisciplinary team.
- In situations that may induce stress, incumbent must possess above average skill in interpersonal relations and ability to remain calm in emergencies (Residents exhibiting outbursts or unusual behaviors).
- Providing Restorative care, conduct small group sessions with selected Residents, and/or other duties.
- Position requires extensive period of standing and walking. Working with Residents requires bending, lifting, stooping, and other similar activities.
- Records accurate data, level of assist, and document resident's response to interventions related to restorative care activities daily.
