Senior Events Manager
Summary: This critical role is responsible for acquiring and handling local catering and private individual client events, planning all details of an event while overseeing relationships. We are looking for individuals who have a solid knowledge of food and beverage, able to exhibit strong business acumen, have a strong network in the event sector with an ability to solicit new and repeat business, have a proven track record displaying creativity and excellent communication skills. This position will sell corporate and social catering events in a unique resort environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Pursue new and repeat catering and event business
- Establish and build and strong relationships within the local hotel community and local vendors
- Communicate group details throughout hotel departments
- Maintain and grow the client relationship from prospect through site departure via all available avenues of communication and on-site presence to ensure personal attention given to client.
- Actively solicit new business and respond to inquiries with the intention of confirming profitable catering business and achieving Quarterly Sales Goals.
- Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries and personal sales calls.
- Conduct property tours and entertain planners of meetings, social events, and weddings.
- Plan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel staff and clients, including but not exclusive to: Morning Operations Briefing, Morning CS Briefing, Resume Meeting, Banquet Event Order Meeting, Sales Meeting, Pre-Convention Meetings, Board of Operations, Menu Tastings, and Planning Visits.
- Coordinate the sales efforts between sales and catering departments to insure proper utilization of function space to yield maximum revenues.
- Finalize the requirements of confirmed bookings while maximizing revenue potential through upselling and ensuring effective communication both written (Resumes, BEO, Daily Reports) and personal contact with all departments for the success of the event. Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of program or event. Prepare a monthly booking report.
- Viable candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in the same or similar role.
- Knowledge of property management systems required. Salesforce knowledge preferred.
- Experience in a mountain resort environment highly desired.
- Ability to quickly and positively establish rapport is required.
- Above average communication skills - both written and oral - are required.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and nights.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Interpret Financial Reports and provide expertise on (projected) Revenue vs. Expenses.
- Project and Maintain acceptable payroll commitments.
- Guide business decisions by staying on top of Spa industry trends.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Must be able to multi task.
- Must routinely meet deadlines
- Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
- Lift and move a minimum of up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Wear appropriate safety equipment.
