Job Responsibilities:

As a part-time remote data center infrastructure engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert for power and cooling system management, including designing and implementing efficient and reliable solutions
  • Developing and implementing maintenance schedules for power and cooling equipment, including tracking and reporting on maintenance activities
  • Designing and implementing server farm best practices and standards, including training and educating staff on these procedures
  • Identifying and addressing server farm reliability patterns and risks, including developing and implementing corrective actions to mitigate these risks
  • Supporting issue management to resolve equipment, functional, and application issues related to power and cooling systems
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that data center infrastructure meets the needs of the business, including participating in development exercises to ensure that architectural and functional requirements are met
  • Staying up-to-date with new and emerging technologies through ongoing education and training, including attending industry conferences and workshops

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science
  • At least 2 years of experience in a data center infrastructure engineering role, including experience with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and UPS systems
  • In-depth knowledge of cutting-edge data center design and implementation techniques, including design, build, test, and troubleshoot
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and address complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and reports

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science

  • Experience with data center infrastructure management software, including tools such as DCIM and CMDB
  • Certification in a relevant field, such as data center design or infrastructure management
  • Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies
  • Strong knowledge of IT service management frameworks, including ITIL
