Bellevue College, a diverse and innovative educational institution, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fitness Technician to join our dynamic team in the Wellness Center. As a Fitness Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the fitness and recreation needs of our students, staff, and faculty, while promoting a culture of wellness and inclusivity on campus.

The BC Wellness Center works to enhance the campus climate and enrich the quality of life on campus by providing high-quality fitness programs and services. As a Fitness Technician, you will be an essential part of this effort, supporting the fitness needs of our students and promoting a culture of wellness and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent support services to students, staff, and faculty users of the Fitness Center during Open Access Lab Hours.
  • Verify approved access for students, staff, and faculty upon entry.
  • Provide basic exercise education, safety spotting, and exercise resources provided by the Health and Physical Education (HPE) department.
  • Maintain and monitor facility safety and cleanliness, including daily cleaning responsibilities such as wiping down equipment, refreshing cleaning supplies, and daily organization of lab equipment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, time management skills, and a willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Show a sincere interest in helping others and a commitment to Bellevue College's mission, values, and diversity.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled BC student.
  • Have Exercise Education Experience, either through completion of the BC Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) program or one (1) year work experience in the exercise field.
  • Be able to complete professional certification within one (1) year of start date.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50lbs, multiple times per shift.
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater and remain in good standing with the College.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Student Engagement office and associated services and resources.
  • Knowledge of the BC Benefits Hub services.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with varied populations with little to no previous exercise education.

As a Fitness Technician at Bellevue College, you will have the opportunity to:

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $17.50. While this position is not eligible for benefits due to its temporary and part-time nature, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop your skills and knowledge in the fitness industry.
