Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, aligned with the school's curriculum and standards
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Be available to take on assignments on a flexible schedule, including day-to-day and long-term placements

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Special education experience or certification
• Subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English, etc.)
• Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School)
