Position Overview

As a Special Education Paraprofessional at Workwarp, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide instructional support to students with special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to assist students with their academic, social, and emotional development, while also contributing to the overall well-being of the classroom community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to students with special needs, including assisting with lesson plans, activities, and assessments
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as feeding, toileting, and mobility
  • Support students with behavioral challenges, using evidence-based strategies and techniques
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with teachers and parents/guardians as needed
  • Assist with classroom management and organization, including preparing materials and setting up learning environments
  • Provide support for students during transitions, such as moving between classrooms or activities

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Workwarp, you will need:

  • A two-year degree or higher in a related field (e.g., education, special education, psychology)
  • Or, passage of the Parapro Assessment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and support student's full body weight up to adult size
  • Ability to tolerate frequent bending and lifting
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, emotional challenges, behavior challenges, and trauma (preferred)
  • Behavior management training (preferred)

  • Basic computer skills and ability to use educational software

Compensation and Benefits
