Pennsylvania State University, a world-renowned institution, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor to join its esteemed faculty in the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering. About the Role

This is a full-time, in-residence, academic year (36 weeks), non-tenure track position, with a term appointment funded for three years and an excellent possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024. As a Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and contributing to the department's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, covering topics such as reservoir engineering, production engineering, well testing, and well logging.
  • Recruit and train laboratory teaching assistants and lecture learning assistants to be effective members of an instructional team.
  • Create and implement inquiry-based class exercises to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Assist with curriculum design and assessment to ensure the highest quality educational experience.
  • Participate in departmental activities and contribute to the overall mission of the university.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field by the appointment start date.
  • Teaching experience in petroleum engineering courses and laboratories.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and a passion for inspiring students.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Industry experience in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.
  • Evidence of a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusive excellence, and belonging.
  • Experience with curriculum design and assessment.
