Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate basketball assistant coach to join our team. As a basketball assistant coach, you will be responsible for supporting the head coach in developing and implementing game plans, leading practices, and mentoring student-athletes. You will also be responsible for promoting a positive and inclusive team culture, while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the head coach in developing and implementing game plans, leading practices, and mentoring student-athletes
- Promote a positive and inclusive team culture, while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students
- Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and player development
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a positive and supportive team environment
- Collaborate with the head coach and other staff members to develop and implement team-building activities and community service projects
- Maintain accurate records and reports, as required by the district and CHSAA
- Participate in coaching clinics, workshops, and other professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and industry trends
Essential Qualifications
* Current certificate in AED/CPR (Head Coaches) or First Aid/CPR (Assistant Coaches)
- CDE licensed teacher or valid Coaches registration with CHSAA
- Current concussion certification from the NFHS or Children's Hospital Colorado
- Ability to pass the CHSAA annual Coaches Exam
- Previous coaching experience and/or participation at the high school or college level
- Strong knowledge and skills in the specific sport
- Ability to plan, organize, and successfully direct specific sport
- Ability to perform and teach advanced techniques in specific sport
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse groups of people
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., exercise science, sports management, education)
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Familiarity with CHSAA rules and regulations
- Experience with team-building activities and community service projects
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
