Experienced Customer Service Representative – Retail Sales and Store Operations

Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Representative at blithequark, your key responsibilities will include:

• Greeting and interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Consulting with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise
• Demonstrating and explaining merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customers' needs
• Answering customers' questions about merchandise and assisting them with purchase decisions
• Retrieving merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations
• Collecting payment using the store point of sale system
• Maintaining store interior and exterior cleanliness, including the gas bay, pumps, parking lot, and grass island(s)
• Performing other duties as assigned, such as covering call-ins until relief staff is in place

Vendor Check-Ins & Invoicing

You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, including checking in with vendors, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments.

Sales Floor Support

You will be the go-to person for customers on the sales floor, providing expert knowledge of our merchandise and making recommendations to help customers find the perfect products.

Store Operations

You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store, including the gas bay, pumps, parking lot, and grass island(s). This includes performing daily tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and restocking shelves.

Safety and Security

You will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the store and its customers, including understanding gas spill cleanup procedures and being prepared to respond in case of an emergency.

Required Skills & Abilities

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and respond thoughtfully
• Excellent sales and customer service skills, with a focus on building strong relationships with customers
• Extensive knowledge of the merchandise sold, including product features, benefits, and applications
• Ability to anticipate customers' needs and make recommendations to meet those needs
• Ability to operate or quickly learn the store's point-of-sale system
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Physical stamina to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 75 pounds, and perform other physical tasks as required

Education & Experience

While a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, we are open to candidates with relevant experience in retail or customer service. On-the-job training will be provided to ensure your success in this role.

Physical Requirements

This role requires:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach above head & below knees, squat, and safely climb a ladder/step stool
