Responsibilities:

As an Authorization Specialist I (Data Entry), your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and performing data entry to maintain and update authorization requests in the utilization management system
  • Assisting the utilization management team with ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on authorizations and referrals by policies and guidelines
  • Contributing to the authorization review process by documenting necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis based on the referral to the clinical reviewer for determination
  • Remaining up to date on healthcare, authorization processes, policies, and procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned, including receiving faxes, triaging them, and sending them out to the appropriate teams within the Client's HealthPlan
  • Supporting the intake department to streamline the intake process
  • Entering pertinent claims information from source documents
  • Correcting entries where indicated
  • Maintaining appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
  • Processing for teams including Concurrent Review, Behavioral Health, Medicare, etc.

Performance Expectations/Metrics:

As a member of our team, you will be expected to meet the following performance metrics:

  • Process anywhere from 3,500 to 4,000 faxes per day, with a goal of getting the faxes out to other teams within 1-2 hours of receiving
  • Maintain a typing speed of 50-60 WPM, with a goal of achieving 10,000 keystrokes per hour
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation

Required Skills/Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and experience:

  • 10,000 keystrokes alphanumeric per hour (50-60 WPM) typing speed
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable on the job
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a typing test with a score of at least 60 WPM
  • Open availability to work on any assigned shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Retail experience may be beneficial, as it can translate to a schedule expectation standpoint

Preferred Skills/Experience:

While not required, the following skills and experience are preferred:

  • 3 months to 1 year of data processing or clerical experience
  • Understanding of medical terminology and insurance

Education Requirement:

A high school diploma is required for this role, with the possibility of conversion to a full-time position later.

Job Type:

This is a contract role with a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of conversion to a full-time position.
