Experienced Data Entry Specialist – Prior Authorization and Utilization Management

As a Data Entry Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our prior authorization requests, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining the integrity of our utilization management system.

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Data Entry Specialist to join our remote team in Texas. As a Data Entry Specialist, you'll be responsible for supporting the prior authorization request process, performing data entry, and maintaining accurate records. You'll work closely with our utilization management team to ensure seamless communication and efficient processing of authorization requests.

Responsibilities:

* Supports and performs data entry to maintain and update authorization requests in the utilization management system

  • Assists the utilization management team with ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on authorizations and referrals by policies and guidelines
  • Contributes to the authorization review process by documenting necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis based on the referral to the clinical reviewer for determination
  • Remains up to date on healthcare, authorization processes, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including receiving faxes, triaging them, and sending them out to the appropriate teams within the Client's HealthPlan
  • Supports the intake department to streamline the intake process
  • Enters pertinent claims information from source documents
  • Corrects entries where indicated
  • Maintains appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
  • Processes faxes for teams including Concurrent Review, Behavioral Health, Medicare, etc.

Performance Expectations/Metrics:

* Process anywhere from 3,500 to 4,000 faxes per day

  • Get faxes out to other teams within 1-2 hours of receiving, depending on the form
  • Maintain a typing speed of 50-60 WPM

Requirements:

* High school diploma required

  • Ability to pass a typing test with a minimum speed of 60 WPM
  • Open availability to work on any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, or holidays if needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of faxes and data entry
  • Understanding of medical terminology and insurance is preferred
  • 3 months to 1 year of data processing or clerical experience is preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

* 3 months to 1 year of data processing or clerical experience

  • Understanding of medical terminology and insurance
  • Retail experience may transfer from a schedule expectation standpoint, due to the team being open 7 days/week

Compensation:

* $16.00 per hour

  • No less than 40 hours per week
