- Staffs cases with Child Protective Investigator and sometimes case management staff to determine whether the Department has legal sufficiency to take a child into the custody of DCF (through Microsoft Teams)
- Prepares the shelter paperwork and handles the hearing (all hearings are via Zoom)
- Sends after shelter email containing the Shelter and Records Release Orders for the child(ren) to the attorney of record for the area/caseload
- Prepares Motions and Orders for requests for home studies in accordance with the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children
- Prepares Motions and Orders for authorization to administer psychotropic medications for children for whom parents cannot consent
- Assists in drafting other motions/orders as needed
- Assists in drafting Petitions as needed
- Law Degree
- Minimum of 2 years bar admission
- Multi-week onboarding program created by trainers certified by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy
- Quarterly intensive multi-day New Attorney Training conducted by certified trainers
- Annual multi-day Advanced Litigation Academy conducted by certified trainers
- Fulfillment of all CLE requirements through webinars and live trainings on topics including case law updates, statutory changes, courtroom skills, evidence, ethics, and legal writing.
- Florida Bar annual dues are paid for by the Department, contingent upon agency approval
