Data Analyst - QM (Full Time, Remote, North Carolina Based)

The Quality Management Data Analyst supports various Quality Management functions by bringing creativity, critical thinking, and disciplined design and analytic practices to provide users with timely insights and information.  The successful data professional will provide decision support by leveraging various modes of analysis (such as diagnostic, forensic, descriptive, and trend analyses) to translate insights into intelligible recommendations expressed in reports, dashboards, and presentations.

This position is fulltime remote. While there is no expectation of being in the office routinely, they may be required to report to the Alliance Home Office (Morrisville, North Carolina) for business meetings as needed.

Responsibilities & Duties

Analyze Business Activities to Identify Report and Data Requirements

  • Develop report requests and business specifications, ensuring requests are well-formed and able to be addressed with available enterprise data sources
  • Provide timely feedback regarding barriers to satisfying business requests (including technical and logical barriers) and provide options for remedy
  • Conduct research of business specifications, policies, contracts, journals, web resources, and in-person interviews to gain a better understanding of data requirements for projects
  • Liaise with IT department on report development

State-Mandated Reporting Coordination

  • Monitor reporting calendars for upcoming due dates, template changes, and state communications
  • Coordinate with Business Owners to ensure reports are validated and uploaded to the calendar, enabling on-time submission to the State
  • Manage state feedback and revision requests
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to improving reporting accuracy and timeliness

Deliver Data Products that Effectively Communicate Information

  • Spearhead the end‑to‑end design, extraction, analysis, visualization, validation, and delivery of accurate, timely data products and reports that support informed decision‑making across the organization
  • Monitor data associated with contract performance measures, HEDIS measures, and program requirements; track and trend performance over time, analyze the results, and recommend actionable improvements
  • Conduct technical peer reviews to ensure reporting criteria are met and sound logic is employed during data querying, dataset design, and analysis
  • Execute efficient wrangling, evaluation, and analysis of data via Microsoft SQL Server tools, Microsoft Excel, and other tools appropriate across a variety of data domains including (but not limited to) claims, authorizations, eligibility, and patient notes
  • Validate the content and logic used in the creation of data products and presentations with business owners and department/unit leadership prior to delivery
  • Implement sound visualization techniques to ensure data products objectively and clearly communicate important findings while maintaining fidelity to what the data and analysis thereof will reasonably support

Develop and Maintain Data Product Documentation

  • Create, organize, and stage documentation related to data products, lessons-learned, as well as your own knowledge documents related to discovered techniques, pitfalls, and other insights gained
  • Use version control to preserve development lifecycles

Manage Surveys

  • Manage administration of mandated surveys and deliver analysis of results to stakeholders
  • Partner with external vendors and internal staff to design, coordinate, and execute survey initiatives, ensuring seamless collaboration, adherence to timelines, and high‑quality data collection

Collaborate with Department/Unit Staff and External Stakeholders on Report and Application Development

  • Liaise with IT department during the course of data product development such as the location of data sources, establishing automation processes for making reportable data accessible in the enterprise BI platform or other critical-to-business platforms
  • Partner with IT Department to perform quality assurance testing of systems and reports, monitor various databases to assure consistency and accuracy of data, and work collaboratively with data owners to address data integrity concern
  • Attend IT and vendor trainings and meetings that are relevant to the above responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the NC Department of Health & Human Services (NCDHHS) to assure report development is consistent with requirements 

Support Data and Quality Needs

  • Complete quality‑management activities, establishing data‑quality standards, monitoring reporting accuracy, and continuously improving processes to address any tasks not otherwise specified in the job description

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or certification from an accredited college/university in Human Services, statistics, mathematics, computer science, business administration or related field, and three (3) years of experience in a data oriented environment

Preferred:

Previous experience in a healthcare

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of relational database systems and uses; multi-domain dataset design
  • Knowledge of best practices and methods related to interpreting and presenting data and related insights
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Knowledge of statistics, set theory, and linear algebra
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical-thinking with data; strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities

Salary Range

$60,234 - $76,799/ Annual 

Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity
