Job description: Position Summary: Provide advanced writing support and targeted academic support for all English Language Learners (ELL).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare written and verbal communication improvement strategies for all levels of English Language Learners (ELL)
- Assist students through the writing process by using guided questions to elicit critical thinking and clarity of writing
- Work with students in person and through online platforms
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide resources for multilingual students
- Coordinate, promote, and facilitate reading groups and specialized workshops
- Assist students in identifying their individual strengths and skills in order to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potential
- Participate in outreach activities and tutoring services
- Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services
- Collaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC)
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
- Bachelor of Art required, Master's degree strongly preferred
- ESL or Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages (TOESL) certificate or degree is strongly preferred
- Travel or study abroad is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
- Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
- Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae
- Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
