Education Assistant - Inclusion

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Work individually with students with special needs to support their educational progress and achieve their Individual Education Program (IEP) goals.
• Modify lessons, instructional materials, quizzes, and tests to ensure student accessibility and comprehension.
• Conduct parallel teaching/tutoring, take notes for students, and work with small groups of students.
• Maintain behavior reinforcement programs, provide physical support and assistance, and assist with major personal, physical, and custodial needs of students.
• Assist with range of motion exercises, physical/occupational therapy programs, and physical education.
• Teach life skills and study skills, write and submit progress reports, and assist other special needs students as needed.
• Use various methods, such as assistive software, sign language, Braille, and typing/writing, to communicate with students and assist them in developing functional communication skills.
• Monitor and document student activities and progress for teacher and parental review.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree preferred and six months of experience working with special needs children.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level I - IVPP Fingerprint Clearance card through Arizona Department of Public Safety.
• CPR certificate and First Aid certificate are required within one (1) year of hire.
• Willingness to support feeding and toileting of students with training.

Working Conditions:

• .875 FTE, Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (includes 30-minute unpaid meal break).
• 10 months/188 paid workdays per year.
• Non-Exempt, benefits eligible.
