Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate ParaProfessional to join our team as a Special Education Support Specialist for Remote Learning Environments. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with students with special needs and are committed to providing high-quality support and services. As a ParaProfessional, you will work closely with special education teachers to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), provide instructional support, and promote student success in a remote learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers in implementing students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in a remote learning environment.
• Provide instructional support to students with mild to severe physical, emotional, and learning disabilities, including preparation of lesson plans, materials, and presentations.
• Assist students with classroom and homework assignments, tutoring, or other supplemental instruction, as needed.
• Support students with socialization, personal hygiene, medications, and physical therapy, nutritional, and related personal tasks, as needed.
• Assist regular classroom teachers by preparing, modifying, and adapting classroom presentations and materials to assigned students.
• Perform substitute teacher duties in the absence of the teacher, as needed.
• Assist with clerical duties, including copying, inputting records and data into a computer, faxing, text and document preparation, and related duties.
• Maintain the classroom in a clean, neat, and orderly status, prepares bulletin boards and displays, and maintains classroom supply levels.
• Assist with student supervision on field trips and related extracurricular activities.
• Perform school grounds, bus, noon, and other monitoring and safety duties, as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; college or other advanced education or training is preferred.
• Classroom or other instructional experience is preferred.
• Experience working with special needs children is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates who possess the following:

• College or other advanced education or training in special education or a related field.
• Experience working with students with mild to severe physical, emotional, and learning disabilities.
• Knowledge of basic educational procedures and objectives, including classroom instruction and presentation, preparation of teaching materials and aids, behavior management and modification, testing and grading, tutoring, and student-teacher relations and interactions.

To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other district personnel.
• Ability to interpret and modify classroom instructions, materials, and presentations to the appropriate learning level of the assigned student.
• Knowledge of basic special education methods and procedures for dealing with students with mild to severe physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain student, school, and parental confidentiality.
• Integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
