Work Shift

This part-time role requires a flexible schedule, with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 1:15 pm to 5:15 pm, and Friday, 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Job Summary

As an Experienced Customer Service & Collections Representative, you'll play a vital role in managing patient accounts, providing exceptional customer service, and optimizing cash flow. Under the direction of the Supervisor Customer Service, you'll make outbound calls and receive inbound calls to resolve patient account balances, ensuring that our patients receive the care they need while maintaining a positive experience.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

* Account Management: + Receive computer-generated, management-assigned "work queues" or account inventories of self-pay account balances to be collected or achieved final resolution. + Validate accuracy of self-pay balance and determine responsibility with patients. + Document negotiated payment commitments in account notes and "queues" account for future follow-up.

  • Customer Service:

+ Provide high-quality service excellence in accomplishing goals and objectives. + Demonstrate proficiency in customer service, customer satisfaction, and service recovery situations. + Maintain professional and congenial relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Cash Collection:

+ Negotiate acceptable payment arrangements with patients/responsible parties via inbound/outbound phone calls, letters, emails, faxes, or walk-in visits. + Accept payments via credit card, check, or cash.

  • Special Projects:

+ Accurately and timely complete special projects as assigned by leadership. + Meet productivity and quality expectations as reviewed monthly with each representative.

  • Compliance:

+ Respect and maintain the privacy of patients' protected health information. + Demonstrate and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and guidelines.

Required Minimum Education

Required Minimum Experience

* Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital, physician's office, or related healthcare office environment.

  • Preferred: Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare account management with customer service experience.

Required Minimum Skills

* Basic knowledge of medical terminology

  • Basic experience and knowledge of PC applications
  • Detailed-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed
  • Strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere
  • Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs
  • High-level problem-solving, analytical, and investigational skills
  • Excellent internal/external customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression
  • Ability to learn quickly and meet continuous timelines
  • Exhibit behaviors consistent with principles of excellent service
  • Demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment
