Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding Industry

Job Summary:

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with the MD of Ocean, carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and supporting carrier service issues. You'll also support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert, implementing and communicating strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to the preferred network.

Key Responsibilities:

* Execute strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product

  • Work closely with the MD of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and supporting carrier service issues
  • Support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert, implementing and communicating strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to the preferred network
  • Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the TLM to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
  • Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the MD, Ocean, along with the global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
  • Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required, working closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize company risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets
  • Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
  • Work with the MD, Ocean, along with the regional ocean management team, to promote the ocean product
  • Support sales and operations as needed
  • Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
  • Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
  • Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office apps
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets

  • Knowledge of ocean carrier performance and competitive activity
  • Familiarity with global trade lane operations and logistics
  • Experience in managing annual budgets and controlling, monitoring, and reporting results

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits:

As a Colorado resident, you'll be eligible for an annual salary of $57,836.00 - $131,686.00, depending on your experience and qualifications. You'll also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including:
