[Remote] Sr Data Platform Engineer

Remotifyx Health is committed to building a world of health around every individual, and they are seeking a Sr Data Platform Engineer to manage and optimize their database systems. This role involves administering databases, resolving performance issues, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements while supporting production readiness and disaster recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Administering, testing, and implementing databases
  • Applying knowledge of database management systems
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues, database capacity, and database scalability
  • Apply intricate knowledge of database internals with responsibility for database configuration, tuning, maintenance, patching, and problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Responsible for all aspects of the physical database including schemas, DDL, users, and security in development, UAT and production environments
  • Identify and resolve problems occurring in all database environments including performance related issues (e.g., database and SQL tuning)
  • Modify existing databases and database management systems by writing and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system, or direct others in coding descriptions
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure by routinely testing programs or databases, correcting errors, and making necessary modifications
  • Support database administration utilities, reorganizations, and index builds
  • Contribute to performance and Disaster Recovery testing
  • Provide proactive support for production and non-production databases, ensuring full compliance of the Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Conduct full monitoring of all production databases ensuring that there are no outages for any application, including validation that all performance support jobs and backup jobs have run to good completion, at the appointed time, and the databases are available 24x7
  • Responsible for creating all application database objects, creation and scheduling of all needed database administration batch jobs, monitoring, backup and production readiness
  • Responsible for creation and documentation of new environments, standards, and procedures

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation
  • Four (4) years of experience in installing and configuring Oracle database and infrastructure as per user requirement
  • Four (4) years of experience in upgrading Oracle database to higher versions of Oracle database
  • Four (4) years of experience in installing/maintaining Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) or Oracle database using Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and SCAN listener
  • Four (4) years of experience in Oracle ASM management, adding dropping ASM disk, manage space utilization on ASM level
  • Four (4) years of experience in migrating Oracle database from default file system to ASM or various Unix operating system such as IBM AIX, Oracle Solaris, and Red Hat Linux
  • Four (4) years of experience in collaborating with peers/teams for potential roadblocks/showstoppers to the current critical Oracle build projects in meetings
  • Four (4) years of experience in troubleshooting and remediating Oracle database-related issues like undo space, tablespace, archive destination, locking, or blocking
  • Four (4) years of experience in collaborating with customers for Business Critical and Oracle database crisis calls, impact and workarounds, and long-term fix for each issue
  • Four (4) years of experience in installing and configuring Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) on Oracle database hosts to monitor critical events and set up alerts
