Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Band Teacher to join our team at KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy. As a Band Teacher, you will be responsible for leading daily music instruction across multiple grade levels, creating and leading a drumline, and developing a comprehensive music program that complements our rigorous academic program.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily music instruction across multiple grade levels, including grades 5-8
• Create and lead a drumline, including recruiting and managing students, developing a performance schedule, and leading rehearsals and performances
• Develop and implement a comprehensive music program that complements our rigorous academic program, including curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment
• Build relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create a positive and inclusive school culture
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in music education
• Other duties as assigned by school administration

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Music K-12
• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom
• Passing a background check, as required by law

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of K-8 teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom
• Previous experience leading a band or drumline

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

• Competitive salary range: $50,000 - $70,000 per year
