Job Summary
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing critical support to our Revenue Recovery Department. This hybrid role combines remote and in-office work, with a 2/3 days on/off mix. You will work closely with our team to retrieve patient medical records, generate and prepare patient itemized bills, extract and enter necessary information from hospital patient accounting systems, and perform various other tasks to support our revenue recovery efforts.
Key Responsibilities
* Retrieve patient medical records from various hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Generate and prepare patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits
- Extract and enter necessary information from hospital patient accounting systems, maintaining data integrity and accuracy
- Make phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain information needed on patients, demonstrating excellent communication skills
- Run and create reports to support revenue recovery efforts, analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities
- Assist with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
- Scan and index documents, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail
Essential Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business, or information technology) preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical records, data entry, or a related field, with a strong understanding of healthcare systems and revenue cycle processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital patient accounting systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a healthcare revenue cycle or medical records setting, with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance
- Certification in medical records or a related field (e.g., Certified Medical Record Specialist (CMRS) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS))
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools, such as SQL or Tableau
- Familiarity with electronic document management systems and scanning software
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations
